Chris Hunter is a sly newsreel reporter covering the Chinese-Japanese war in Shanghai. There, he meets pilot Alma Harding, who is initially distrustful of him. Through a clever ruse, Chris manages to get Alma hired as his assistant. Together, they embark on an adventurous expedition through the jungles of South America, during which Chris gradually changes her opinion of him.
