Three American women—Anita, Frances, and Maria—work as secretaries in Rome, each yearning for love and adventure in the Eternal City. Anita warns Maria, her replacement at the USDA, that romance for secretaries is rare. But soon, Maria catches the eye of Prince Dino di Cessi at a party at her boss's home, and he invites her on an enchanting journey to Venice. Frances, who's spent 15 years in Rome as the secretary to a successful but elusive American writer, initially cautions Maria to be careful with the so-called 'predatory prince', but soon joins her in embracing the adventure, believing together they can handle him. As the women toss coins into the Trevi Fountain, they discover that wishes can indeed come true in unexpected ways.
