Set on a remote island near Havana, Cuba, Lt. Cmdr. Ben Staves joins a Navy scientific team working to develop an effective shark repellent, aiming to protect WWII military personnel stranded in shark-infested waters. Driven by a personal tragedy—having lost much of his crew to sharks when his ship was sunk by the Japanese—Staves is determined to rush the project's completion.
