When Joan Boothe accompanies her husband, reporter David Boothe, to Las Vegas, she begins gambling to pass the time while he is working on a story. Encouraged by the casino manager, she becomes addicted to gambling, even going so far as to "borrow" David's expense money to fuel her habit. This obsession ultimately leads to the breakdown of their marriage, but David remains determined to help her overcome her addiction.
