A quiet, respectable bank cashier learns he has only a few years left to live and decides to embezzle money from the bank where he works, planning to enjoy his remaining days in South America. When his crime is discovered, he flees, aided by Mrs. Forrest, who is being blackmailed by a former lover. In trying to help her, the bank clerk loses his life.
