Silky, once a bootlegger during Prohibition, now legally produces his own brand of alcohol. Seven years prior, he sent Doc, an honest man, to prison. As Doc is released, Silky wants to bring him on as his general manager. An English solicitor arrives, revealing that Silky is the new Earl of Gorley. Doc sees this as an opportunity to remove Silky from the picture, accompanying him to England to address his inheritance. While Silky believes he can sell his holdings, Doc—knowing the truth—keeps silent and works to bankrupt Silky's business in Chicago. Meanwhile, Silky must learn about his new responsibilities as an English nobleman.
