The Defiant Ones 1958 DVD - Tony Curtis / Sidney Poitier

After a prison transport truck crashes, convicts John "Joker" Jackson and Noah Cullen—chained together and deeply distrustful of each other—escape into the wilderness. Forced to cooperate as they head north in hopes of catching a train to freedom, their journey is fraught with tension and danger. Meanwhile, the compassionate Sheriff Max Muller assembles a posse to track them down with a sense of justice and civility. The fugitives eventually reach a remote farm, where a lonely woman helps free them from their chains. She offers a plan: she will drive Joker and her son Billy to safety, while Cullen escapes through the swamp to the railroad. However, when Joker discovers that she's sending Cullen into a trap, he rejects her help and is wounded by Billy. Joker returns to find and save Cullen, and through their ordeal, the two men transform animosity into friendship and mutual respect.
