A plastic surgeon, Dr. Philip Ritter, has a brief romance with concert pianist Alice Brent. When she leaves him to return to her previous boyfriend, the heartbroken doctor tries to "keep" her by operating on a female criminal, Lily Conover, transforming her face to resemble his lost love. Complications arise when the real pianist returns, leading to a suspenseful confrontation.
