Lt. Colonel Robert Taine of the U.S. Army and his wife Cecily reside in a small English village. While hunting on his recently purchased land, Taine mistakenly shoots a man he believes to be a poacher. Upon discovering the man dead, Taine suspects himself to be the killer.
