Playwright Gaylord Esterbrook scores a hit with his first Broadway play, winning praise from both critics and his leading lady, Linda Paige. He and Linda marry happily, but their relationship is tested when an influential patroness convinces Esterbrook to abandon comedy in favor of writing a tragedy.
