Margin for Error 1943 DVD - Joan Bennett / Milton Berle

When Patrolman Moe Finkelstein is assigned to guard the German consulate, led by the stern Karl Baumer, neither is pleased with the arrangement. However, Moe soon befriends the consulate's other residents, including Baumer's unhappy wife Sophie, secretary Baron Max von Alvenstor, and a charming maid named Frieda. Moe detects an undercurrent of tension that cannot be explained by the looming clouds of World War II alone. Karl Baumer, a compulsive gambler, has lost a significant sum of German government money. Sophie despises her husband and his ideology, while Baron Max has fallen in love with her. When Max exposes the missing funds, Baumer retaliates by threatening to reveal Max's non-Aryan ancestry to Berlin. Things become even more volatile with the arrival of Nazi saboteurs, demanding the stolen funds to support their mission, further complicating the already tense atmosphere within the consulate.
