Her triumphant debut at the Paris Opera makes her famous overnight, and her New York Metropolitan Opera performance establishes her as one of the great singers of her era. But just as her dreams have come true, tragedy strikes; stricken by polio, she faces life in a wheelchair. Despite reaching the depths of despair, Marjorie finds the strength to rebuild her life and career through the love and devotion of her husband, Dr. Tom King (Glenn Ford). She brings inspiration to others by singing for servicemen who, like herself, are confined to wheelchairs.
