Jefferson Russett manages a logging company and his brother, Steve, is the prodigal son. After Jeff cuts off Steve's allowance and puts him to work, Steve is tricked into signing a contract that allows rival Barton Logging to use the Russett railways. As punishment, Jeff sends Steve to the logging camp, but Steve soon steals a plane and ends up stranded in Barton territory after running out of fuel. There, he meets the fiery Jo Barton, who runs the rival camp. Forced to stay for two months until the next boat arrives, Steve—going by the name Steve Martin—sets out to win over Jo and survive the rough camp life.
