Coach George Cooper's college football team is struggling, losing game after game, which frustrates the influential alumnus Roger Jessup. At home, Cooper has additional troubles with his eldest daughter, Connie. As the season nears its end, the team faces their Big Rival, and Cooper's hopes for a turnaround nearly end in disaster. Meanwhile, Connie secretly sells an article entitled "I Was a Bubble Dancer" to a confession magazine, which unexpectedly makes her popular.
