Duke Mullane (Jeff Chandler), manager of a Malayan tin mine, ventures to a remote island to open a new mining operation deep in the jungle. The natives are initially welcoming, especially the dancer Minyora (Suzan Ball), who is soon to marry the island's ruler, King Kiang (Anthony Quinn). However, after a series of unfortunate incidents, King Kiang becomes hostile, leaving Duke, his crew, Minyora, and his former love Lory (Marilyn Maxwell)—now engaged to his boss—stranded on the island.
