Steve 'Jumbo' Johnson hires Steve Singleton and his boat, the Seeker, to search for pearls off the coast of New Guinea. However, Johnson tricks Singleton with fake permits, leading to Singleton losing his boat and being imprisoned. Upon release, Singleton joins forces with boat owners Daubrey and Sykes to locate a downed plane rumored to be carrying gold bullion. Along their journey, they rescue Katherine Shelley, a plane passenger held captive by headhunters. Johnson reappears, and together the group discovers the underwater crash site. As the gold is recovered from the plane, tensions arise as each man schemes to gain control of the treasure.
