Lew Marsh, an alcoholic newspaperman, hits rock bottom and loses his job, only to be rehabilitated by Charley Dolan. After six years of sobriety, Lew returns to work and dedicates himself to helping other recovering alcoholics. His boss asks for his help to get his nephew, Boyd Copeland, back on track. Boyd, married to Lew's former sweetheart, is entangled with a cabaret singer and the mob, making Lew's task all the more challenging.
