Two brothers, Ned (Laurence Harvey) and Frankie (Trader Faulkner), live on a farm with their elderly grandmother. Ned despises life as a farm laborer and becomes involved with a city girl who dreams of owning her own hair salon. Frankie, a sleepwalker, accidentally kills a bull one night and possesses a collection of knives. This inspires Ned with a dark idea: he could murder their grandmother, blame Frankie, and inherit the farm to fulfill his and his beloved's ambitions.
